Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Ravindra Waikar had alleged that Maharashtra Local Development funds were being allocated to Mumbai constituencies represented by ruling parties.
A division bench of Justice Girish S Kulkarni and Justice Rajesh N Laddha was hearing a plea by Waikar, the MLA from Jogeshwari (East), seeking equal allocation of MLD funds, claiming same were allocated to many constituencies represented by ruling parties, in a discriminatory manner
The plea was filed by an MLA belonging to the Uddhav Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena, seeking equal allocation of MLD funds to MLAs without discrimination on the basis of political parties.
The court also directed the state government to place on record how much money has been disbursed since February 17 -- when Waikar's plea was first heard by HC -- and their allocation per elected representative.
The Court has granted the State government pleader 3 weeks of time to take instructions and respond to the petition.
