The Consulate General of India in Vancouver has strongly condemned the assault on a Sikh student in Canada's British Columbia province and called for prompt action against perpetrators.
The 17-year-old Sikh student was either bear or pepper sprayed by another teenaged male after exiting a public transit bus on his way home.
The incident took place on September 11 when the 17-year-old student, who has not been named, was on his way home from school in Kelowna
The incident happened at the intersection of Rutland Road South and Robson Road East in Kelowna shortly before 4 pm on Monday," the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said on Wednesday.
