A campaign to remove green belt land in Walshaw from a borough-wide housing plan has been unsuccessful, the council has confirmed.

Campaigners and borough leaders have welcomed the news that a huge controversial housing development in Bury is set to be scrapped.

COUNCIL chiefs in Bury have narrowly backed a much-delayed masterplan for building new homes and creating jobs which will release thousands of acres of green belt land for housing and industry.
