SINCLAIRVILLE — Proof that community support remains strong in the village was evident Sunday.
The Sinclairville Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 hosted a chicken barbecue fundraiser, an event typically organized more for the public looking for good food at a cheap price.
According to Myron Lanphere, president of the fire department, the major source of funds has always been Bingo. However, COVID-19 forced Sinclairville — like many volunteer fire departments — to seek alternatives to raise funds.

Taste of South dinner set for May
The Juneteenth 2021 Celebration Committee will be sponsoring the Annual Taste of the South on Friday, May 7 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Open Door No. 3 Church of God in Christ, 59 Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk. The theme for the event is “Summer BBQ.” Dinners will be take-out only following COVID guidelines.
The Annual Taste of the South is a Southern style African American down home bar-b-que featuring bar-b-que ribs, bar-b-que chicken, shredded pork, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato casserole, corn on the cob, green beans and white potatoes, corn bread, banana pudding, and many other dishes.
