Jockey Umberto Rispoli took off his mounts on Del Mar's biggest day of the year on Saturday due to injuries sustained in a spill Aug. 31.
Rispoli explained that scans and x-rays showed no issues, and that he would try to return to the saddle as soon as possible.
A jockey was injured Thursday after being thrown from his horse during a race. According to the Del Mar Racetrack, Umberto Rispoli was unseated by his horse, Single Track Mind, shortly after 2 p.m.
