You may not be familiar with skydiving competitions or even know that they exist, but a Chelan man is taking his skills to the limit by landing a spot on the 2023 U.S. World Cup skydiving roster.

CHICAGO (Aug. 3, 2022) – America’s best skydivers are coming together for the 2022 United States Parachute Association (USPA) National Championships hosted jointly by Skydive Chicago and Skydive Midwest. With an official kick-off on Friday, Sept. 2, practice and competitions will span three weeks. The skydivers will compete in various disciplines – from canopy piloting, where pilots swoop over water clocking speeds up to 100 MPH – to artistic routines in freefall, to performances in specially designed wingsuits, to dropping through the sky at the fastest speeds humanly possible.

Officials said the 36-year-old took the wrong angle for his landing.

The man was doing training runs for the upcoming national skydiving competition alongside several other professional skydivers, a release said.
