400-Meter-Läuferin Alica Schmidt aus Ingolstadt durchbrach am Montag die Zwei-Millionen-Grenze auf Instagram. Die "Heißeste Athletin der Welt", wie sie vom US-Portal "Busted Coverage" bereits betitelt wurde, kann aber mehr als nur schön. Schmidt läuft die 400 Meter in einer tiefen 52er-Zeit. Eine Marke, die ihr den Traum von Olympia wahr werden lässt.

"Ich wusste bis zum letzten Moment nicht, ob es reicht", erzählt die gebürtige Wormserin, die mit einem Jahr nach Ingolstadt kam, unserer Zeitung. Als dann ihr Bundestrainer angerufen hat, konnte es Schmidt erst gar nicht glauben. "Es ist ein wahr gewordener Traum. Für Momente wie diesen trainiere ich täglich mehrere Stunden", freut sie sich. Als die 22-Jährige von ihrer Nominierung erfahren hat, ist sie spontan zu ihren Eltern nach Ingolstadt gefahren, um sie zu überraschen. "Als ich ihnen erzählt habe, dass ich nur bis morgen bleiben kann, weil es für mich nach Tokio geht, waren sie zu Tränen gerührt", schildert die Sportlerin, deren Lauf-Karriere beim MTV Ingolstadt ihren Anfang nahm. 2018 verließ die ambitionierte Athletin dann ihre Heimat und wechselte zum SC Potsdam. Bei ihrem jetzigen Verein, dem SCC Berlin, möchte Schmidt ihr Potenzial noch weiter ausschöpfen.
