Poetry Prizes Erskine J. Poetry Prize (2021, published in 2022) Enter your poems in the 21st annual prize today! All poems submitted for the prize will be considered for publication in Smartish Pace. Therefore, it is possible to have your poems selected for an issue of Smartish Pace even if they do not win the Erskine J. Poetry Prize. Winning poet receives $200. Top three poets and all finalists (usually about 10) are published in Smartish Pace. Simultaneous submissions are allowed. Submit 3 poems and bio along with a $10 entry fee. Home So what is Smartish Pace? Smartish Pace is an independent non-profit magazine in Baltimore that was founded by Editor Stephen Reichert in 1999. We've published over a dozen Pulitzer Prize winners and many poets for the first time. We've been the most fun at AWP for 20 years and hosted countless readings at over 50 venues and currently host a monthly reading series in Baltimore at Bird in Hand.
