Last year, Smith’s Farm saw an idyllic spring that set the stage for an outstanding season for its signature Maine broccoli, which started more than a week early and brought record yields.
Smith’s Farm has been growing broccoli at its flagship location in Presque Isle, ME, since the mid 1980s, providing its prized Stag Brand product to retail clients along the Eastern Seaboard.
Smith’s Farm carried the momentum of a record-setting summer season in Maine into its fall broccoli and cauliflower deals in the Southeast, where it has enjoyed strong volume and yields. Tara Smith Vighetti, a partner at Smith’s Farm, said harvest wrapped up in Maine in October, and the transition to its southeastern production areas was a smooth one.
