THE Port of Blyth has been chosen as the construction base for one of the world’s largest wind farms.
RWE has signed up Port of Blyth as Offshore Construction Base for its 1.4 gigawatts (GW) Sofia Offshore Wind Farm, one of the world’s largest offshore wind projects.
The Port of Blyth has been selected by Van Oord Offshore Wind UK as the location for the storage and mobilisation of inter-array cable for the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm, located on Dogger Bank in the central North Sea.
The first of three 1.2 GW phases of the 3.6 GW Dogger Bank wind farm, will soon begin installing monopiles in the first half of July.
