Growing drought in the southwestern Plains and a mix of conditions in South America are the weather factors holding the market's attention Monday.
A storm system will move quickly through the northern tier of the country this weekend. It will produce a band of moderate to potentially heavy snow near the U.S.-Canada border and scattered showers across the Midwest, Delta, and southeastern Plains. Some thunderstorms will be possible, even some severe weather across the southeastern Plains into the Delta. Stronger winds will also be possible near the track of the low-pressure system in the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest along with plummeting temperatures.
Growing drought in the southwestern Plains, dryness in portions of Argentina and southern Brazil, and more showers in eastern Australia are the weather factors holding the market's attention Thursday.
A system was bringing showers across the eastern Midwest Wednesday afternoon but also warm temperatures behind it in the Plains and western Midwest. Those warm temperatures will continue Thursday before another weak system moves across the northern tier of the country Thursday night into Friday.
A weather system building in the Canadian Prairies will move along the U.S.-Canada border overnight through Wednesday, bringing showers to far northern areas. Warmer temperatures will spill into the Plains as the system passes by, with high temperatures approaching or exceeding 70 degrees Fahrenheit, some 15 to 30 degrees above normal across the Northern Plains. Gusty winds are also expected in the region.
