"Comprehensive insights into solid-state electrolytes and electrode-ele" by Xinran Gao, Zheng Xing et al.

All-solid-state sodium-ion batteries (ASSSIBs) are widely recognized as one of the most promising candidates for the next-generation of batteries, owing to their low cost and high safety. However, their commercialization progress has been impeded by interface problems, especially those related to the electrode/electrolyte interface. Thus, addressing the urgent problem of stabilizing the electrode/electrolyte interface for more stable operation is crucial. This review aims to comprehensively analyze in-depth the issues and solutions related to the electrode/electrolyte interface. Firstly, the f...

"Regulating the reduction reaction pathways via manipulating the solvat" by Wenchao Zhang, Fangli Zhang et al.

Transforming CO2 into valuable chemicals is an inevitable trend in our current society. Among the viable end-uses of CO2, fixing CO2 as carbon or carbonates via Li-CO2 chemistry could be an efficient approach, and promising achievements have been obtained in catalyst design in the past. Even so, the critical role of anions/solvents in the formation of a robust solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer on cathodes and the solvation structure have never been investigated. Herein, lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) in two common solvents with various donor numbers (DN) have been i...

Tracking Lithiation with Transmission Electron Microscopy

This study is led by Prof. Dong Su (Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences). Li ion imaging by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is the “holy grail” in the study of Li ion battery (LIB) materials.

"Monolithic Phosphate Interphase for Highly Reversible and Stable Zn Me" by Sailin Liu, Jitraporn Vongsvivut et al. - Vimarsana News

"Monolithic Phosphate Interphase for Highly Reversible and Stable Zn Me" by Sailin Liu, Jitraporn Vongsvivut et al.

Zinc metal battery (ZMB) is promising as the next generation of energy storage system, but challenges relating to dendrites and corrosion of the zinc anode are restricting its practical application. Here, to stabilize Zn anode, we report a controlled electrolytic method for a monolithic solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) via a high dipole moment solvent dimethyl methylphosphonate (DMMP). The DMMP-based electrolytes can generate a homogeneous and robust phosphate SEI (Zn3(PO4)2 and ZnP2O6). Benefiting from the protecting impact of this in situ monolithic SEI, the zinc electrode exhibits long-te...
