Sign Up Nine Metropolitan Police officers have been fined £200 each for breaching Covid-19 regulations for eating in a cafe while on duty, Scotland Yard has said. The officers, members of the South East Basic Command Unit, were investigated after images of them in uniform eating together were posted online earlier this month. The group were spotted by a member of the public in the Greenwich cafe while their patrol vehicles were parked outside. Under current rules, cafes and restaurants are only allowed to provide a takeaway service.

Nine police officers who were spotted flouting Covid lockdown restrictions as they enjoyed breakfast inside a Greenwich café have been fined. Photos emerged earlier this month of several police cars parked outside The Chef House Kitchen Café, as officers inside dined despite law currently banning restaurants from operating table service. Following an investigation, the Met determined the South East Basic Command Unit officers should be issued with fixed penalty notices of £200 each. Chief Superintendent Rob Atkin, South East BCU Commander, said: “Police officers are tasked with enforcing the legislation that has been introduced to stop the spread of the virus and the public rightly expect that they will set an example through their own actions.

Deptford: firearms seized after social media threats

Firearms seized in Deptford as police trace man making threats on social media Three suspected firearms were seized from a Deptford hotel room after a household was allegedly threatened on social media. Officers were called to a Plumstead address shortly after 9pm on Sunday, after the occupiers reported they had been contacted by a man known to them who made threats over a social media app, showing them a firearm. An immediate operation began to trace the individual, who was suspected to be staying in a hotel somewhere in south east London. A possible location of the man was established through enquires and an operation put in place involving firearms officers.
