The Indian government has banned 54 new apps, including Garena Free Fire, saying that it has the “Power to issue directions for interception or monitoring or decryption of any information through any computer resource.”
This is the second time that the government has announced a ban on Chinese apps. In 2020, around 224 Chinese apps were banned including the popular PUBG Mobile, PUBG Mobile Lite, TikTok, Camscanner, among others.
The Indian government issued an order banning 54 apps linked to China stating that they pose a threat to the privacy and security of Indians.
The most prominent name this time around is Garena Free Fire, which is actually from Singapore.
