Jeff bezos launches on blue origin s new shepard vehicle in a few days in texas is a much quieter affair, most likely. they ll have fewer press, fewer events, fewer things for people to enjoy when they re actually on-site, but that s just kind of the culture and the if iphiloso of these two companies. blue origin does things slowly and quietly, virgin galactic much louder and flashier, just like their founders. the other key difference is the two different types of spacecrafts and the difference sp between them is just huge. you take a look at virgin galactic s spaceship 2 and it looks like just a spaceship, very similar to nasa s space shuttle. one of the things we have not talked about is just how much the test pilots love it, because they can actually fly it. ....

We re so glad to have you here in time for this historic day. i want to ask about safety for you because virgin galactic had a crash in 2014 that killed one pilot, regrettably, and seriously injured another. the ntsb found it was due to human error. what kind of last-minute safety checks are going on right now? so right after that accident back in 2014, the ntsb found it was human error but also blamed it on the spaceship s builder saying that scaled composites should have anticipated that that kind of human error could happen. and so what they did back then was they put what s called an inhibitor in to keep that kind of human error from happening again. the chance of something like what happened in 2014 happening again very slim. but as you know, jake, space flight always a very dangerous and risky business. right now they are going through all of their final checks. we already had one weather delay this morning. and in terms of what the crew is ....

what a life. that was sir richard branson as he went where no billionaire has gone before, traveling to the edge of space aboard virgin galactic s unity spacecraft and there on your screen, you can see the passenger plane detaching from the mother ship and then rocketing to the final frontier with branson and his crew along for the ride. the team reached zero gravity for just a short period and then made a safe return to earth roughly an hour after takeoff. here s cnn s kristen fisher on this short, but historic mission. pam, what an exciting here at spaceport, america, in truth and consequences, new mexico. an absolutely textbook test flight for richard branson and the virgin galactic team and this is a big deal because this is the first time in the history of planet earth that a human has built and funded a spaceship and then flown it into space and the ultimate goal here, of course, is opening this up to humanity, ....
