Spearman Directs SCDOE To Drop Mask Mandate
Posted May 12, 2021 12:16 pm | Filed under Featured, Local News, News An email to state Superintendents from South Carolina State Superintendent Molly Spearman says the Department of Education is eliminating its statewide mask mandate for schools. The email says McMaster does not have the power to overrule a Constitutional officer, such as the State Superintendent of Education. The ruling follows McMasterâs executive order, Tuesday afternoon, which would have allowed students and families to apply for a waiver to not wear masks.
