The 37th annual event traces its history back to competitions between ranches and cowboys in the 1800s.
But the event that celebrates life in the West and the Abilene area's roots rides again. The event kicks off Thursday evening with the downtown parade before attendees get their kicks at the Taylor County Expo Center on Friday and Saturday. The traditional cowboy church service Sunday morning concludes this year's event. Following the 6:30 p.m. parade, there will be a street dance.
