few moments from now. it was here almost exactly 24 hours ago now that a gunman opened fire from the roof of a building about two blocks behind me, killing six people, you can hear the sounds of it right there, wounding 25. it caused hundreds of people to flee the scene. a real moment of sheer terror. you can see actually behind us now some of the chairs that they left behind still littering the scene here. police did find a gun on the roof of that building. ultimately about eight hours later they were able to apprehend someone there y re calling a person of interest, they used the phrase suspect, that person has been in custody overnight and several hours and investigators are going through his past trying to learn more about what might have led him to open fire on this celebration of the nation s independence. let s get the very latest on where the investigation stands this morning, i m joined by josh campbell who has been on the scene now for 20 hours at this point c ....

just in the nomination process, essentially they re to get all 50 senate democrats here. we re looking for them to start this whole process in a matter of hours. the big question mark is when exactly will they do that. we don t quite know. they re waiting on a couple of things. you mentioned the senate parliamentarian. they re using a specialized budget process to move forward. they only need democratic senate support to get it through the senate but in order to use that process they have to make sure, they have to go through the parlia parliamentarian to finish. so they re waiting on a few more rulings from her and also waiting from the congressional budget office on how much some of these provisions will cost and how they will affect the deficit. once they have all that have in place, senate democrats can feel comfortable with a motion to proceed, which is essentially the first vote to kick off what is a very long and tedious process to get this across the finish line ....

at $2,000 and extend expiring health care subsidies for three years. jessica dean is live on capitol hill with more on all of this, jessica, what is happening? reporter: well we have the senate in session now, fredricka. they are doing a couple of nomination votes to get everybody here and everybody moving and in the meantime behind the scenes the democrats are waiting on final rulings from the senate parliamentarian because remember they re using the specialized budget process in order to move this legislation forward. it requires the support of only democrats but they also have to pass the test of the senate parliamentarian who is looking over every provision and making sure that it fits within this budget process. so they re waiting on final rules from her. they re also waiting for the congressional budget office to see just how much some they re going to score this and how much it will cost and how much it will effect the deficit. so they re waiting on a couple ....
