Patient claims Touchette Regional Hospital, physician failed to diagnose heart condition

BELLEVILLE Touchette Regional Hospital and one of its physicians is accused of failing to diagnose and treat a patient s myocardial infarction.
Clifford Conway filed a complaint March 5 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Richard Shaffer, M.D., Envision Physician Services LLC and Touchette Regional Hospital Inc., alleging negligence.
According to Conway s complaint, he came under the care of the defendants on Aug. 2, 2019. While under their care, Conway alleges the defendants failed to diagnose his myocardial infarction, failed to evaluate and transfer him in a timely manner and failed to take a proper physical and proper medical history. ....

Man alleges delayed throat cancer diagnosis led to vocal cord removal

BELLEVILLE A man alleges Memorial Hospital medical personnel failed to timely diagnose his throat cancer, causing him to lose the right side of his vocal cord.
Christopher Hardin filed a complaint March 1 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Protestant Memorial Medical Center Inc., doing business as Memorial Hospital, Victoria Koch, CNP, Hayden Smith, M.D., Tara Topper and Stephen Sheridan, M.D., alleging negligence.
According to Hardin s complaint, he went to Memorial Hospital s emergency room in Belleville on Feb. 12, 2019, and again on March 1, 2019, due to suffering from throat pain, nasal congestion, bilateral ear tenderness and loss of his voice. His symptoms allegedly progressed for about two and half weeks. Hardin claims the defendants failed to adequately evaluate and diagnose his condition or have him follow up with a specialist. ....

BELLEVILLE – Associate Judge Kevin Hoerner plans to hold St. Clair County’s first civil jury trial in a year for six clients of Stephen Tillery, who contributed $11,100 to Hoerner’s campaign for appellate judge in 2018.
Hoerner has set proceedings to begin April 12, on Tillery’s claim that weed killer paraquat causes Parkinson’s disease.
Five of his six plaintiffs don’t live in St. Clair County.
Tillery sued Syngenta, Growmark, and Chevron for 11 plaintiffs in 2017.
Chief Judge Andrew Gleeson assigned the suit to former judge Vincent Lopinot.
Gleeson stood for retention in 2018, and Tillery gave his campaign $10,000.
In December 2018, Lopinot retired and Gleeson assigned himself to the suit. ....

BELLEVILLE A woman is suing Metrolink and its security company provider after her son was fatally shot while exiting a Metrolink train.
Diedra Smith, Special Administrator of the Estate of Lundy Blue, filed a complaint March 1 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Bi-State Development Agency, doing business as Metrolink, Securitas Security Services USA Inc., the St. Clair County Transit District and Catrell Dent, alleging breach of duty, negligence and wrongful death.
According to Smith s suit, Blue, her son, was a passenger on the Metrolink train on March 18, 2019, and was allegedly shot and killed by Dent as he exited the train. ....

Utility worker claims he was trapped inside property with auto lock gate

BELLEVILLE An underground utility locator claims he became trapped inside a premises in East St. Louis by an auto lock gate and suffered injuries while trying to get off the property.
James Partee filed a complaint March 1 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Charter Communications LLC and Duneman Demolition, alleging negligence.
Partee alleges in his complaint that on Sept. 27, 2019, he was working as an underground utility locator. He claims he was on the defendant s property on State Street in East St. Louis, which had a single entrance gate with no accessible security keypad to reopen the gate once a person was inside the premises. He claims he entered the correct security code to get inside the gate and that the gate automatically closed with no way to get out from the inside. Partee alleges he became trapped and fell while trying to exit the premises, suffering injuries. ....
