In July last year, Gyawali had said that the recruitment was the first window open for Nepali youths to go abroad adding that it created a lot of jobs in the society in past but termed some provisions as questionable. Gurkhas, who originate from the mountainous region of Nepal’s Gorkha region, have been an integral part of the Indian Army for over six decades. There are 39 battalions serving in 7 Gorkha regiments as of now.
