Vorster wins SA Stroke Play in wire-to-wire style RANDBURG, 4 February 2021 – Martin Vorster slept on the lead for three straight nights and on Thursday, South Africa’s top ranked amateur finished the job and won the South African Stroke Play Championship by four shots. Vorster once again showed he is man for big moments when he secured the national title on 23 under at Randpark Golf Club. The Mossel Bay golfer opened the tournament with a flawless eight-under-par 64. Following rounds of 65 and 66, he started the final round on the Firethorn Course seven strokes clear of fellow GolfRSA National Squad member Kieron van Wyk and nine ahead of Christiaan Maas and defending champion Casey Jarvis. ....

Vorster opened his campaign on the Firethorn course with flawless 64. On another day of heavy rain, the GolfRSA National Squad member picked up where he left off the previous day with an eagle on the par-5 third. A further six gains for a seven-under-par 65 saw Vorster surge six shots clear of the field. The presence of South Africa’s leading amateur in the world rankings at the top of the leaderboard will not go unnoticed. Despite a lay-off of seven months, the World No 30 is clearly back to form. RANDBURG, 1 February 2021 – Oliver Goldhill led a birdie barrage on the opening day of the South African Stroke Play Championship at Randpark Golf Club after six days of unremitting rain rendered the ordinarily testing Firethorn Course defenseless. It was a memorable day for Goldhill, who a superb start with four birdies on the bounce. He pencilled in four more on the sixth, seventh, ninth and 12th holes and capped a flawless 62 another brace at the closing holes. “That was the first time in my career that I shot a bogey-free round,” gushed the 20-year-old Magalies Park golfer. “With so much rain, the course was very score-able, especially with placing. The greens were soft and you could pretty much fly it all the way to the green and it would sit down dead. ....
