Leslie Van Houten will be released from prison on parole "in the coming weeks" She is serving a life sentence for being involved in the 1969 murder of Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary. California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that he would not ask the state Supreme Court to block her release. The 75-year-old will spend about a year in a rehabilitation facility, where she should learn basic life skills. "My family and I are heartbroken because we are once again reminded of all the years we didn't have my father and stepmother with us," said Rosemary's daughter.
