The Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) voted to increase the base rate by 25 basis points today, meaning interest rates now stand at 4.50% and a 15-year high. This is the 12th consecutive rise to the base rate since December 2021.
The Bank of England has raised the base rate for the twelfth consecutive time to stand at 4.5%, heaping an average £30 a month to more than 1.4 million homeowner mortgage bills.

Coventry Building Society has announced that its Standard Variable Rate (SVR) for its mortgage borrowers will stay unchanged. This follows the Bank of England’s rate increase today of 0.25% taking the base rate to 4.5% - the highest for 15 years. Coventry has however confirmed interest rate increases of up to 0.25%
