State Assemblyman Ronald Dancer died July 23 at the age of 73 after a long illness. He represented the 12th District for nearly 20 years.

A 20-year veteran of the New Jersey Legislature, Assemblyman Ron Dancer (R-12) of Ocean County has died at the age of 73.

In the second start of his sophomore campaign, freshman Breeders Crown champion Rebuff seized the lead up the backside and held firm on the point to complete a stakes-record 1:49.4 mile — which also equaled the track record for three-year-old trotting colts — in the first of two $125,000 divisions of the Stanley Dancer Memorial at the Meadowlands on Saturday (July 16).

“Of course, you want to win and do well, but like everyone else, these are just stepping stones. Everyone’s goal is that first Saturday in August. Everyone’s goal is the Hambletonian.”
