The West Bengal government will pay salaries to 25,753 teachers and non-teaching staff in state-sponsored schools in April after appointments were cancelled by a Calcutta High Court order. The state government is also considering paying salaries until the Supreme Court's verdict. The court declared the selection process "null and void" and ordered those appointed outside vacancies and those who submitted blank OMR sheets to return their remunerations and benefits.

The state government, which has moved the Supreme Court challenging the order, is also mulling paying salaries to the teachers and non-teaching staff until the top court gives its verdict, an official said.
