The victory was the first State Championship for the Cougars on the women's side and the third all-time for the Croatan men.

On the men's side, Baylor Nelson's record-setting performance powered Community School of Davidson to their first team State Championship in program history.

The N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A/2A Indoor Track and Field State Championship saw a pair of first-time winners atop the podium for team state championships. The Swain County Maroon Devils won the program's first women's Indoor State Championship while the Raptors from Mountain Island Charter won their school's first team State Championship in Indoor Track on the men's side.
