( MENAFN )The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) declared on Friday, February 11, that a marker of increasing consumer expenditure, Turkey s retail sales volume with steady prices increased 3.3 percent in 2020 compared to the past year. Food, drink, and tobacco sales posted the main upsurge last year, increased 9.7 percent on an annual basis, TurkStat stated. Excluding automotive fuel, non-food sales increased 0.8 percent, while auto fuel sales increased 0.7 percent over the same period. Spurred by coronavirus-linked lockdown measures, sales by mail order and the internet increased the most among non-food items, leaping 79.4 percent year-on-year in 2020. An analysis of GlobalData’s Financial Deals Database reveals that the deal volume during the month more than halved compared to the monthly average of Q4 2020. It also remained below the monthly average deal volume of all the other quarters in 2020.
