UCI study finds that California Competes Tax Credit program creates jobs


Effective place-based policy can be model for future incentives, evidence shows

“We evaluated the effects of one of a new generation of economic development programs, the California Competes Tax Credit, on local job creation. Our findings show that CCTC awards increased employment among workers residing in both high- and low-income communities and that the local multipliers are larger for nonmanufacturing job creation than for manufacturing,” says study co-author David Neumark, UCI Distinguished Professor of economics.
