Examining several names to monitor this summer now that the 2024 NBA trade deadline period has officially closed.

Third baseman Jeimer Candelario gets a $3 million signing bonus as part of his $45 million, three-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds, a deal that includes a 2027 team option and could be worth $60 million over four seasons. Candelario has salaries of $12 million this year, $15 million in 2025 and $12 million in 2026, and the Reds have an $18 million option for 2027 with a $3 million buyout. As part of the agreement announced Dec. 12, Candelario will donate 1% of his salary each season to the team charity.

Catcher Tom Murphy and the San Francisco Giants finalized an $8.25 million, two-year contract on Saturday, a deal with a 2026 team option that could make the agreement worth $12 million over three seasons. Murphy gets $4 million in each of the next two seasons, and the Giants have a $4 million option for 2026 with a $250,000 buyout. After adding South Korean outfielder Jung Hoo Lee with a $113 million, six-year contract, the Giants brought in a veteran behind the plate who could share time with Patrick Bailey following his stellar rookie season on defense.
