Dec 16, 2020 A tow truck operator pulling three trailers wrecked while driving on U.S. Route 30, Hanover Township, at 3:18 p.m. Wednesday. Andrew Hamilton, 31 of Ashland, was rounding a bend when two of the trailers went off the right side of the road, disconnected and overturned. This damaged a 400-foot section of Roy StaceyÃs yard, and 170 gallons of diesel fuel also spilled into the yard, and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency was contacted. Hamilton was cited for failure to control. Kenneth E. Gumbel, 81, of Rogers, was cited for failure to yield the right of way after he pulled in front of an oncoming vehicle driven by Lucas D. Eyster, 17, of Negley, resulting in a minor accident at the intersection of state Route 7 and Church Street at 3:15 p.m. Monday.
Liverpool Township Officers responded to two calls related to scams in the East Liverpool area. One woman reported at 7:48 p.m. Dec. 9 that the suspects tried to sign her up for a doorbell security system from ADT, and she had presented a $15 check to initiate the contract in exchange or their promise that her current contract with Brinks would be paid off. Not only had that check never been cashed, there was a $84.63 charge made to her account and the Brinks’ account not paid off. A second woman, who was the original victim, reported at 10:26 p.m. Dec. 11 that an unknown male showed up at her Price Street residence to allegedly remove the ADT system that you no longer wished to have.
