Michelle Moran Grosse Pointe Park residents, officials speak out after KKK flag placed in home window Related GROSSE POINTE PARK A Ku Klux Klan flag displayed in the window of a Grosse Pointe Park home has sparked outrage in the community. On Feb. 16, the Grosse Pointe Park Public Safety Department responded to a home in the 1100 block of Wayburn Street after learning that someone had placed a KKK flag in the side window of a home facing a neighboring home where a Black family. In a statement, police said officers went to the home of the suspect to investigate, spoke with the suspect a 31-year-old Grosse Pointe Park man and asked him to remove the flag “due to its offensive nature.” The flag was taken down from the window, but the suspect could be facing harassment/ethnic intimidation charges, police said. ....

And while the facility belongs to the City, the City is inviting its mutual aid partners the other four Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods to take advantage of training opportunities available in its new building. The Grosse Pointe City Council voted unanimously at a meeting by Zoom Jan. 11 in favor of the agreement. ....
New Grosse Pointe Shores finance officer leaves Advertisement GROSSE POINTE SHORES Grosse Pointe Shores is once again in the market for someone to handle financial responsibilities such as the creation of the budget. After only four months on the job, Finance Officer and Treasurer Cathy Hall has left. Hall had started in October to take over for Rhonda Ricketts, who retired from that post in November and whose last day in the office was Oct. 21. At press time, interim City Manager/Assistant City Manager Tom Krolczyk said Hall’s last day was Jan. 15. Hall, a CPA, has a bachelor’s of accountancy degree from Walsh College. Although she hadn’t worked for a municipality before, she did have over 25 years of experience in accounting, working for health care, nonprofit and governmental clients, according to her LinkedIn profile. ....
