(WSIL) -- Perry County Sheriff Steve Bareis will be named the interim police chief in Sesser, while still holding the title of Sheriff. The Perry County Weekly-Press reported Sheriff Bareis stated he will contract with them for some services to give them some oversight. It may amount to 10-to-15 hours per week. SESSER, Ill. (WJPF) — The City of Sesser will likely get a new interim police chief Tuesday night. It’s expected that current Perry County Sheriff Steve Bareis will be appointed to the role. The interim job will be a part-time one, with Bareis also staying on as the full time sheriff in Perry County. Current Sesser Police Chief Ryan White is stepping down. White is also being sued by former Sesser Mayor Ned Mitchell who claims White and another officer made false statements that led to Mitchell’s arrest in 2019 on drug charges. Previous Story
