A 19-year-old man is in critical condition after the car he was driving flipped several times and hit a tree, officials said. Demaci Griffin, of the 200 block of Murray Fork Drive, was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima when it left the road and crashed, according to a statement released by the Fayetteville Police Department. A resident of an apartment was taken to the hospital Friday night after a fire that started in a kitchen, officials said. Firefighters from the Fayetteville and Stoney Point fire departments were called to the Britt Lake Apartments on the 2900 block of Cosmo Drive just after 11:30 p.m., according to a statement released by the Fayetteville department. They found smoke coming from the second floor of an apartment building, it said. A 31-year-old man was killed Friday when his car hit a utility pole after it collided with a sport utility vehicle, officials said. Mario O. Baldwin of the 500 block of Prestige Boulevard was killed in the crash, according to a statement released by the Fayetteville Police Department. He was driving a 2012 Mercedes C300 at the time of the crash, it said.
