St. Landry Parish government audit shows budget surpluses for 2020
Increased sales tax revenues evidently are enabling St. Landry Parish government finances to continue improving, according to an annual internal audit released Wednesday night. “It’s was a good year for St. Landry Parish,” auditor Steve Moosa told the St. Landry Parish Council Finance Committee. Moosa, who represented auditing firm Darnall, Sikes and Frederick, said an audit performed by the company shows parish government received about $1 million more in 2020 than it did the previous year from a 2% parish-wide sales tax collected in rural areas.
