Charlie Lance kicked and punched a helpless man who was on the ground in the stairwell of public conveniences near the Lundy Office on the afternoon of December 30, 2019. He suffered a significant head injury in an apparently unrelated assault elsewhere in Bideford a couple of hours later. He needed specialist neurological treatment in hospital and has been left with epilepsy, Exeter Crown Court was told. ....

Michelle Weeks was one of three people who set on the victim near the public toilets, leaving him with severe bruising to his face and injuries to his arm where he was bitten by his own dog. A group of teenagers who were gathered nearby were seen on CCTV fleeing in alarm as the violence broke out on the night before New Year’s Eve 2019. Weeks was 18 weeks pregnant when she joined the attack but suffered a miscarriage a few days later which she attributed to being tasered by the police and having an epileptic fit. ....
