Ashburnham Public Library park Noah's Ark open meeting law violation Freedom from Religion Foundation

ASHBURNHAM While it s not clear from biblical writings exactly how long it took Noah to construct his ark, it took only six days after a complaint for the town to paint over a cartoonish depiction of the story on a children s game outside the library.
In fact, Selectmen acted so quickly on the matter, using email to communicate, that they ve now been slapped with an open meeting law violation according to a decision from Attorney General Maura Healey s office that was released Wednesday.
The situation began unfolding in mid July of 2020 when a staff attorney from the Freedom from Religion Foundation sent a letter to the director of the Stevens Public Library expressing concern that, an interactive display in the Library’s playground depicted the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark, according to the Attorney General s decision. ....
