Vehicle damaged after A303 blaze A VEHICLE was damaged by fire on a busy Somerset route last night (Sunday, July 18). A fire crew from Wincanton and another from Gillingham was sent to the A303 at Stoke Trister, near Wincanton, at just after 6.35pm to reports of a vehicle blaze. The fire was found on the westbound carriageway of the A303 between Bourton (Dorset) and Wincanton. Firefighters managed to contain damage to the engine compartment in the fire, the cause of which was accidental, according to a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.
