With the start of school for the new year just days, Roanoke City Board of Education met last week to fill vacancies in their staff.

A teacher shot, a student stabbed, and loaded guns taken into classrooms. All recently made headlines in Virginia, causing safety concerns among parents and school leaders.

In a new report, researchers compared the two main ways that universities protect students from harassment and bigotry: Non-Discrimination and Harassment Policies and Student Codes of Conduct.
