BRIDGEWATER — Bridgewater College recognized some of its own Tuesday as the institution celebrated its Founder’s Day.
University of Fort Hare PhD candidate Akhona Madasa was touched by the struggle of high school pupils in her hometown, Ngcobo, who wanted to study further but were confused about what career to pursue. She decided to do something about it and established the Student Support Foundation in 2020 and, with the assistance of volunteers she recruited online, has since assisted more than 200 young people.
