Electric VW ID.4 Gets More Affordable But Less Impressive Base Models In The UK

The Volkswagen ID.4 lineup has grown to include the new base Pure and Pure Performance battery and motor options in the United Kingdom, which are available in the City and Style trim levels.
The City and Style Pure use a 52 kWh battery that powers a 148 PS (146 HP / 109 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque electric motor. They need 10.9 seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) and will top out at 160 km/h (99 mph). The WLTP range is rated at 343 km (213 miles) and 340 km (211 miles) respectively.
The City Pure Performance and Style Pure Performance are a bit punchier, with 170 PS (168 HP / 125 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft). The 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration takes 9.0 seconds in this case, and top speed is identical at 160 km/h (99 mph). The lesser model can travel for 343 km (213 miles) on a full charge, and the upper spec for 340 km (211 miles). ....

Volkswagen has expanded the ID4 range, with a new entry-level City model eligible for the plug-in car grant (PiCG).
There are two new variants of the Volkswagen ID4 – City and Style – with both models bringing the option of ‘Pure’ and ‘Pure Performance’ battery and motor specifications. The former delivering 52 kWh and 148 PS, and the latter having 170 PS on tap, with the same 52 kWh net battery capacity setup.
When the PiCG is taken into account, the on-the-road (OTR) price for the new entry-level City car is £32,150.

New battery options have been added to the ID.4 range
Volkswagen has bolstered its ID.4 electric SUV line-up, adding two new specifications which help to bring down the car’s starting price.
Now, City and Style specifications are available, with the former allowing the ID.4 to qualify for the government’s plug-in car grant and bring its starting price down to £32,150.
In addition to 1st Edition, Life, Family and Max, new Pure and Pure Performance battery and powertrain options have now been added. The former brings 146bhp and 220Nm of torque, while the latter increases this up to 168bhp and 310Nm of torque. Both, however, use the same 52kWh battery which enables a range of up to 213 miles in City specification cars, or 211 in Style models. ....
