Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer posed an important question at a talk last month in La Crosse, Wis. Kimmerer is the author of Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants. Published in 2013 without much fanfare, this amazing book slowly gained momentum through word of mouth, and finally reached the bestsellers list in 2020, staying on the New York Times’ charts for paperback nonfiction 113 weeks and running.
