Slingshot space launcher flight testing achieves milestone by carrying payloads that validate suitability for commercial use
A space company has successfully completed a test launch using a high-tech accelerator, which works much like a slingshot.
SpinLaunch, a California-based start-up developing a rotating arm that can tfling small satellites into near-Earth space has pulled off its tenth successful test launch in less than a year.
The accelerator, which stands taller than the Statue of Liberty, hurled payloads provided by NASA and Airbus 25,000 feet into the air using a giant rotating arm that moves at 5,000mph.
SpinLaunch, the company testing a catapult-like system that sends payloads to space, shared footage from one of its test launches.
