Raiders win wild season finale against Broncos in overtime - Prince Albert Daily Herald

Prince Albert Daily Herald
Moe, Nachbaur and Paddock wrap up WHL careers
The strangest season in Prince Albert Raiders history concluded on Wednesday night with one of the most bizarre contests the team has ever taken part in.
With the team holding a 5-3 lead over the Swift Current Broncos at the 8:01 mark of the third period, Raiders netminder Max Paddock was given a snow shower by Broncos forward Josh Davies and proceeded to pummel him in the face as both players were down in the crease during a post-whistle scrum.
As a result of the play, Davies was given a two-minute minor for unsportsmanlike conduct, but Paddock was given a five-minute match penalty and a game misconduct for what the officials deemed as an attempt to injure.

The Western Hockey League announced Monday that it’s cancelling the playoffs following the completion of the 24-game 2020-21 regular season schedule.
Due to current public health conditions and ongoing challenges due to COVID-19, including travel restrictions across provincial and international borders, the WHL said it was not in a position to conduct the 2021 playoffs.
“When we returned to play in February, we set out with the intention of completing a 24-game Regular Season schedule, knowing adjustments would be needed along the way,” commented WHL Commissioner Ron Robison. “We remained hopeful that public health conditions would improve, but unfortunately that is not the reality we see in front of us today. The ongoing challenges with non-essential interprovincial and international cross-border travel leave us no alternative but to cancel the 2021 WHL Playoffs.

Complications created by COVID-19 force WHL to end 2021 season

CALGARY --
The Western Hockey League (WHL) season will finish with the end of the regular season schedule, the league announced Monday.
Complications created by the pandemic, including border closures, were ultimately too much to continue the season, the league said.
“When we returned to play in February, we set out with the intention of completing a 24-game regular season schedule, knowing adjustments would be needed along the way,” said WHL commissioner Ron Robison. “We remained hopeful that public health conditions would improve, but unfortunately that is not the reality we see in front of us today. The ongoing challenges with non-essential interprovincial and international cross-border travel leave us no alternative but to cancel the 2021 WHL Playoffs."
