The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual banquet tonight with a full house at the Brownwood Coliseum. The audience heard remarks from outgoing Chamber President Cory Howard, of Bruner Auto Group, and incoming President Dustin Larremore, of Farmers Insurance. Larremore announced the hiring of a new Executive Director, Nathan Smith, who will begin his duties at the Chamber on July 14. The highlight of the banquet every year is the announcing of annual awards. They are as follows: Ambassador of the Year This award goes to the leading member of the Chamber Ambassadors group. This year’s award went to Vikki Firth. She has spent countless hours helping Chamber functions such as the Business Expo, Annual Banquet, Corks and Caps, Christmas Under the Stars, Professional Women’s Summit, monthly luncheons, and ribbon cuttings. ....

It is with much sorrow that the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce announces after three years as Executive Director and fourteen total years of service to the Brownwood Area Chamber, June 2 will be the Executive Director, Sunni Modawell’s last day. Under Sunni’s leadership, the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce has seen an increase in membership from 509 to 551. The Total Resource Campaign has almost doubled from approximately $82,000 in 2019, to $154,000 in 2021, – an increase of 88%. Starting June 3, Membership Director Kim Springfield and Communications Director Kandice Harris will begin serving as Interim Co-Directors. The Chamber’s Board of Directors has appointed a hiring committee who is tasked with finding a new permanent leader for the Chamber, and are currently accepting applications. ....
