Sunshine Beach State High senior boys AFL players Bayley Crawford, Angus Castle, Tom McNally, Zak Crozier and Dane Larson.
Sunshine Beach State High School’s senior boys team arrived at the fields with a number of players from backgrounds of rugby union, rugby league and football.
There was only a handful of experienced AFL players among them.
The boys showed no shortage of game management and skill on the field when they started their day with a win over Immanuel Lutheran College kicking 4.1.25 to 2.0.12.
Sunshine’s Zak Crozier found his feet with a great performance and looked like a player to follow for the rest of the day’s matches.

Sunshine ends five-year break with barnstorming start


Sunshine Beach State High School’s first rugby union team in five years has made a barnstorming start to their hiatus-ending season.
The under-18 second division XV has made the perfect start to the season, knocking over St. Andrews 17-7 and then rolling powerhouse Sunshine Coast Grammar School 14-10.
The team is in good hands, led by head coach and former Noosa Dolphins A-grade coach Mick ‘Roxy’ Phelan and well known Dolphins clubman Damien ‘Coges’ Cogill.
Phelan said it was great to see the boys enjoying their footy on Wednesday nights.
“Obviously Sunshine High is one of the schools in the Noosa area that makes up the Noosa Dolphins Colts and Juniors Colts teams,” he said.

"Carter said they saw these two guys sitting on the beach, so they went out and started surfing and the next thing they noticed this guy was screaming out for help.

Hidden autism: Mum's plea to help undiagnosed daughters cope


She said when everything overwhelms her daughter, Halia takes to wearing headphones to shut-out the external onslaught.
Unlike many boys struggling through their early years, Halia’s autism has taken longer to diagnose.
Kylie said a psychologist first hinted Halia had autism at the age of five.
However no formal declaration was made at the time, costing her years of access to “life-changing” specialist support systems.
The drawn-out formal assessment and diagnosis did not start for Halia until she was 10 years old.
Kylie said that she realised her daughter’s social awkwardness, high dependence on routine and the quirky speech patterns that made her stand out from other children.

Daily has looked at last year's test results compared to median suburb house prices to determine the better value-for-money zones.

Maroochydore State High School and Coolum State High School topped the list in 2019, with 30 per cent of eligible students receiving an OP between 1-5 at Maroochydore, and Coolum was just below at 27.7 per cent.
