The Memphis-Shelby County Schools board has called a special meeting for Wednesday to discuss allegations against Superintendent Joris Ray.
Shelby County Schools Superintendent Joris Ray will be placed on paid administrative leave. Edward L. Stanton III will lead the investigation.
The external investigation will happen concurrent with an annual performance evaluation of the superintendent. One board member says the two will be separate.
Ray will remain superintendent during the review, which centers on allegations made in divorce proceedings between Ray and his wife.
