Tony Cavalier, former North Wildwood lifeguards chief, dies
Tony Cavalier, a former longtime chief of the North Wildwood Beach Patrol and one of the leaders in lifeguarding in southern New Jersey, died Dec. 6 at 77. Cavalier was the North Wildwood chief for approximately 36 years before retiring in 2021 and was a pioneer in hiring female lifeguards in what historically had been an all-male profession.
