Okraku makes major revelation on Ghana call-ups influence accusations

“Call-ups for all national teams go through processes, and people must understand this,” Okraku told Joy FM.
“Gone are the days when one person will wake up one day and name a national team, it will never happen again.
“The coach and his team will work with the technical directorate to select a squad, then they have to convince the Management Committee about the squad they have selected.
"Then there is a meeting – some I may attend, others I may select someone to represent me. When there is a consensus, the squad is then announced."
Like the Black Stars, there have also been reports that call-ups for the other national teams, including the home-base team B side, the U23s, U20s, U17s and U15s are heavily influenced by FA and management officials.

IMF approves debt relief for Malawi as govt sets to roll out debt fund

April 8, 2021
Owen Khamula- Nyasa Times 1 Comment
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved debt relief for Malawi  to help address the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Finance minister Felix Mlusu: Debt fund to roll out July 1
Malawi is one of the 28 countries in the world to benefit from the third tranche of grants for debt relief under the catastrophic Containment and Relief Trust.
According to IMF, this new approval made on April 1 follows two previous tranches approved on 13 April 2020 and 2 October 2020 respectively.
Economists have hailed the move by IMF, saying the pandemic has exacerbated preexisting economic challenges.
This development comes when Malawi government plans to establish a Debt retirement Fund effective July 1 – to raise funds from the economy to service debts.

Coronavirus: Team Europe continues to deliver with more than €26 billion disbursed in support to partner countries in one year - World

Coronavirus: Team Europe continues to deliver with more than €26 billion disbursed in support to partner countries in one year

One year ago today, the European Commission and the High Representative set out plans for a targeted EU response to support partner countries' efforts in tackling the Coronavirus pandemic combining resources from the EU, its Member States and European financial institutions, as 'Team Europe'. By 1 January 2021, Team Europe had already supported partner countries around the world with more than €26 billion, 65% of the overall response package that now stands at over €40 billion and exceeding the original €20 billion pledged.
Team Europe is also working to ensure global, equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines and supporting the rollout of vaccination campaigns, while exploring possibilities for boosting local manufacturing capacity. The EU played a leading role in setting up the COVAX Facility, the global initiative that allows for high-income countries to fund vaccines for low and middle-income countries and where Team Europe is one of its leading donors, with over €2.2 billion.

Ghana coach Akonnor should be serious about his job - Aboagye

"The coaching job is a different dimension altogether. You are being judged by results and at the moment he has passed one hurdle," Aboagye, who represented Ghana at the 1996 and 1998 Afcon tournaments, said, as reported by Footballghana.
“And the other hurdle that he has to pass is building a winsome team that can go to Cameroon and bring the trophy that has eluded Ghana for quite a very long time.
“So, the ball is in his court, he has to take it very seriously to make sure that at least he will not make friends out of it.
“He has to be serious about his job, he should pick the best from the country and make sure they go and represent the country and bring the trophy back home."
