A developer has big plans for a historic downtown Burlington building, but it will need grants to carry them out. If those grants are awarded, the Typewriter Shop will join a growing list of commercial and residential development projects in the downtown area.
Wells said retaining walls have been built and he's met with city and fire code inspectors. He said they're now working to get utility hookups coordinated. Wells hopes tenants will be moving into the 24 apartments of the new building by this time next year. Monday was Chad Bird's first day on the job as Burlington's city manager. The Hawk Eye Chad Bird arrived Monday to City Hall for his first day as Burlington's city manager to find a trail of rubber ducks leading the way from his outer office to his desk overlooking downtown Burlington.
