World Archery Championship Sports Correspondent 11th May, 2021 09:55:14 Bangladesh national team coach Martin Frederick said on Tuesday that he still keeps faith in Ruman Shana because he showed his worth there scoring the highest 679 in the 3-day ranking tournament held at the archery camp in Tongi last month. The country’s premier archer Shana was also included in the 11-member team -- comprising 8 archers and 3 officials -- despite showing dismissal performances in the previous two national competitions -- Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games and Bangabandhu 12th Teer National Archery Championships. Bangladeshi archers are going to take part in Archery World Championship stage two after a 17-month break, scheduled to be held on May 17-23 at Lausanne in Switzerland.

Shana failed to secure a notable position in any of the two events of competition namely singles and mixed doubles. Archery returned to the field with this three-day meet after a long 11-month break. Shana missed the bronze in recurve men singles after conceding 0-6 set points defeat to Md Tamimul Islam after losing to 2-6 set points defeat to Abdur Rahman Alif in the semifinal. The misfortune also followed him in recurve mixed doubles. The pair of Shana-Mehenaz Akter Monira conceded a 4-5 set defeat to the pair of Pradipta Chakma and Dia Siddiqi in the bronze medal match.
